SAMARA AND ARMOND DAVIS TIED THE KNOT | BONDED IN BOURBON
On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Samara B. Rivers (now Davis), Founder of Black Bourbon Society, a tiered membership organization dedicated to bourbon enthusiasts for African Americans, married her long time sweetheart and business partner Armond Davis.
The couple lives in Atlanta, GA along with Samara's children, Alva (9) & Rex (7). The happy pair literally fell in love over their love for whiskey! Casually meeting in 2016, their first conversation started off with Samara tapping Armond on the shoulder asking, 'So, are we going to talk about bourbon or what?' They then spent hours talking about their love of whiskey and exchanged information to keep in touch. 4 months went by without any contact until Samara reached out to Armond to help her plan a BBS event in Atlanta. From there a budding friendship blossomed and by the end of 2017, the couple was inseparable. In 2018, Armond became Samara's business partner assisting with securing sponsorships and brand partnerships. Later that year, they launched their podcast, Bonded in Bourbon, a whiskey review show from a his and her perspective. They also picked a Private Select Barrel with Maker's Mark that went on to win Double Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
This winning team and couple have been unstoppable in the spirits industry - producing events across the country, taking members to Louisville for exclusive excursions, and consulting with brands on issues around diversity and inclusion. So when COVID-19 turned in a pandemic which then turned into a quarantine; they were determined to not let that stop their wedding plans. The couple married in the enchanted Cator Woolford Gardens outside of Atlanta with 15 guests in attendance. Chairs were strategically placed 6ft apart in all directions and masks were mandatory attire for guests. The rest of their close relatives, friends and family witnessed the ceremony via Zoom. No hugs were shared, but the love was felt in person and over the simulcast.
